In the Wake of the First Australians - Voyaging a Bamboo Raft from Timor to Australia by Glenn Marshall
Glenn is part of a team of archaeologists constructing and sailing a bamboo raft from Timor to Darwin in February 2020. The aim is to re-enact the first ocean crossings by people to Australia ~70,000 years ago. Glenn will describe this scientific and adventure expedition which aims to shed light on the types of watercraft people may have used, the conditions/risks they dealt with and outline details of the voyage plus archaeological, genetic, rock art and other evidence about the world's first truly maritime culture in the islands of Indonesia.
The talk and slide show will be followed by light refreshments to allow the opportunity of further discussion with Glenn.
