What's New – Queensland by Degrees

It is now almost 18 months since the Queensland by Degrees project was formally launched and we have made considerable progress thanks to the efforts of many people across Queensland.

We now have 84 sites (45% of the total) on the web site in one form or another. Information on a further 48 sites has been collected and is ready to be written up (sorry for the delay in this, caused by the Project Leader's extended absence in Tasmania). So shortly we will have 132, or over 71%, of the sites on the web. People have committed to collect a further 23 sites (12%) leaving only 30 (16%) that have yet to receive any attention. This is a fantastic result.

Just because a site has been collected and written up on the web should not preclude more material being gathered and included. For example, given the very good wet season in the west of the state it would be great to include pictures of the floods around Birdsville and elsewhere to illustrate the contrasts of wet and dry in the landscape. If you have visited the western areas we would greatly appreciate photos (with information on location) to include with the material already collected. Likewise photos of the impact of TC Hamish and other severe weather events along the south-east coast would also be a great addition.

If you'd like to contribute, please have a look at the Contributing page, and get in touch.
