Right. The Murray-Darling catchment is the largest catchment in Australia, coving an area of approximately 1,063,000 sq km, about 14% of the continent. In contrast, the Burdekin catchment covers 133,510 sq km; the Ord catchment is 55,200 sq km; and the Snowy catchment is 13,520 sq km. The Franklin is a relatively short river in Tasmania, only 125 km long. In fact the Murray-Darling catchment is more than 15 times the size of the whole of Tasmania.
