Climate: The closest representative weather station is at the Richmond Post Office, which is approximately 33 km to the north-east of the degree confluence, and has an elevation of 211 m.
The highest temperature to be recorded was 46.0°C in November 1973, and the lowest was -2.5°C in July 1925. The greatest rainfall recorded in any year was 1 160.3 mm in 1891, and the least was 108.1 mm in 1952. Extremes of Nature: Since 1906 there has only been one cyclone to pass within 50 km of the degree confluence (Althea in 1971), although a further 11 have passed within 200 km, despite the area's relatively inland location.
